Halifax Biomedical Inc. (HBI) is a medical device company and one of the world leaders in Roentgen Stereophotogrammetric Analysis (RSA, a technology used to help surgeons determine the degree of stability in orthopedic appliance implants. Headquartered in Mabou, NS, the company was founded by Mr. Chad Munro who serves as President and CEO.
HBI provides two lines of products and services – orthopaedic patient assessments, and orthopaedic contract research studies. Its clients are surgeons and hospitals wishing to undertake a post-operative assessment of the stability of orthopaedic appliance implants, and appliance manufacturers who fund surgeon-conceived research projects investigating the efficacy of new orthopaedic products or protocols. The company is ISO certified under ISO 13485 and 9001 and has FDA (USA), Health Canada and European regulatory approval for the manufacture and sale of its medical devices.
