Why the IV fluid market?

Globally patients are administered gravity-fed IV fluids systems without any protection from adverse situations. Clinicians put themselves and the patient at risk of exposure to a preventable situation. An estimated 230 million surgeries are performed globally each year, along with 18 billion IV bags used globally each year. Of those 18 billion IV bags, 1 billion IV bags are used annually in the US alone.​ How many IV bags are unintentionally unattended? Is it a risk worth taking? This is exactly why we created FIVA.
